Grizzly Shake
The rain forests of the Tongass National Forest in Southeast Alaska provide a challenge for wildlife photography.
Never mind the almost continuing rain that threatens to soak your camera gear. You can buy rainproof covers for your camera and lens.
The bigger issue is the lack of light. The trees are so tall that they block much of the light. The skies are usually cloud-covered.
When a bear shows up and decides to do something that requires a fast shutter speed, you have a choice of either cranking up the ISO (with grain as a result) or trying out a slower shutter speed.
In the below image, I went for the slow shutter speed. What I like is that; even though most of the shaking grizzly bear is blurred; his eyes and face are in tack-sharp focus.
