With winter fast approaching; yes, the first freezing temperatures are here already in Yellowstone's northeast corner; animals born this spring, have to grow up fast.
This baby beaver was born in spring and started venturing out of the beaver lodge after a few weeks. I can't get over how cute some of these baby animals look!
Beavers are busy this time of year preparing for the cold winter months. Before the ponds and lakes freeze, they collect and store fresh branches underwater near their lodge. They spend the cold winter months inside their lodge and access their 'fridge' of branches around the lodge.
This baby approached and stood up in the tall grass a safe distance away from my 600mm lens.
