Here's one of my recent favorite shots of celebrity grizzly - and overall awesome mom - 399.
I've been fortunate enough to see her and her four cubs on several occasions in Grand Teton National Park these past weeks.
This is the first image (of over 3,000 so far taken this May) that I edited. I've also been lucky enough to see the four cubs play and images are coming soon ...
It'll take me a while however to edit all images so I though I'd sneak in the one image that I edited so far.
I like the moodiness of the rain in this image of 399 and; despite that it was taken from over 100 yards away (which I know thanks to the Bear Management staff who were managing the scene when 399 appeared); the amazing sharpness delivered by the Nikon 500mm f/4 lens and greatly helped by the good high ISO capabilities of the Nikon D500 (still my favorite wildlife camera body ...).
The weather has been cold and crappy these past days so if you're planning on visiting soon, make sure to bring weather gear to protect your camera. The below image of 399 was taken when it was raining and very overcast so a good tripod also helps in getting sharp images.
Stay tuned for (many) more images of 399 and her four cubs ...
