It's only a matter of time now before grizzly sows wake up from hibernation with new cute cubs in tow ...
Typically grizzly sows with newborns stay in the den a little longer.
In the Yellowstone and Grand Teton area, they leave their den around mid May.
Male grizzlies on the other hand can wake up any day now in March, and female grizzlies without new cubs typically appear around mid April.
This all depends on the temperatures however so nothing is written in stone when it comes to expecting a grizzly to wake up!
Here's a newborn cub from the past spring in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
Mom was grazing nearby and is a fierce protector of her cub. Remember to use a long lens to be able to keep your distance and even then, keep an eye on mom as she may not like your presence there at a good distance.
