Here is today's image: a solo hike into the Alaskan rainforest found me on the edge of a small creek with extremely limited visibility. The creek is home to spawning salmon each year in August and I was hoping to find and photograph a brown bear up close. Movement in the dense bushes across the creek put me on edge as I quickly realized this wasn't one of my brightest plans: sitting by myself, next to a creek filled with salmon, with almost no visibility, being quiet, and with nowhere to go. My heart rate dropped a little when this black bear stepped out, about 10 yards away. He seemed surprised to see me as I doubt anyone else is silly enough to go where I went ... The rainforest is a dense, dark place so I had to raise the ISO significantly to get this shot.
