Here is one of my favorite images from this past Spring in Grand Teton National Park.
I camped in the National Park's winter camping area at Colter Bay, next to Jackson Lake. While the temperatures dipped down to 0 F (-18 C), I was out daily looking for wildlife.
With most of the big ungulates (elk and moose) hanging out in the southern section of the valley; in and around the National Elk Refuge next to the town of Jackson, Wyoming; I focused on foxes, and grizzly bears (who start emerging from their winter sleep in March).
This particular fox was out hunting in a forest north of the National Park. Hiking in the forest without snow shoes is extremely difficult because of the deep snow, so I counted my lucky stars when the fox walked by close to the park road.
Happy to report that two of my images won in this year's photo contest by the Wyoming Outdoor Council! This fox was one of the winners; I'll post the second winning image in the upcoming days.
