This one posed beautifully (for a split second that is) on exposed rocks.
I brought my big 500mm prime lens which, at f/4, turned the bokeh nice and smooth.

Not many baby animals are cuter than a baby fox in my opinion.
Here's a fox kit I photographed late this spring in Jackson Hole.
I got low to get at his eye level and shoot through the grass. While his siblings played nearby, this one was taking it easy.

As I was laying on the ground to get eye-level shots of this beaver in Wyoming's Grand Teton National Park, I was surprised when he approached and stood up.

The cooler weather has finally arrived!
With temps into the 80s in the Tetons and parts of Yellowstone, I'm happy to report that the weather here at Yellowstone's Northeast entrance near Silver Gate and Cooke City is... 52 F!
The forecast for the next 4-5 days is all good: 50-60 F and a chance of rain. Not that I don't know that more summer temps...

Alaska's Tongass National Forest is teeming with bears now that the chum salmon are arriving to spawn.
This big grizzly (with a funny hairdo) appeared out of the rain forest and, being on the wrong side of the shallow salmon-filled creek, swam the deep glacier-fed lagoon.
Along the way he discovered that some salmon prefer the lagoon for spawning...

While hiking in the backcountry a few days ago, I found four bull moose, hanging out together and hiding from the sun's heat in thick willows near a river.
With nothing much to photograph until the moose would decide to get up and walk into a more open area, I killed the time by walking around.

A few days ago, I was fortunate to once again find one of the biggest bull moose in Grand Teton and Jackson Hole, known as "Hoback."
The mosquitoes were terrible as he was bedded down along the river in a wet area. As it was just me and him, I sat down on this hot day (80F) to await Hoback getting up.
