As the sun had set behind the Tetons in Wyoming's Grand Teton National Park, I was on my way back from a hike looking for moose.
It was around the middle of October and the moose mating season was running on its last legs.

Blue Lagoon in Hyder Alaska

This pond, fed by a glacier in Southeast Alaska, is named the "Blue Lagoon."
A spawning area for salmon every summer, the Blue Lagoon attracts lots of hungry predators, including brown bears.
While this area is a rain forest and thus typically overcast and rainy, sometimes a beam of light comes out turning a spotlight onto the hungry bears....

Here's another favorite shot of a grizzly bear cub of the year ("COY") in Grand Teton National Park.
Even though newborn cubs rely on mother's milk, the cubs mimic mom as she grazes throughout the day.
