It's almost time for the grizzlies in the Tetons and Yellowstone to start their annual hibernation.
Living on the road full-time, I recently left Jackson Hole as temperatures dropped into negative territory. But, I'm lucky that I got to see grizzly 399 and her four cubs a few days before I hit the road.

While hiking around Grand Teton National Park looking for moose, I travel light.
Since my average hike usually ends up taking around 4 miles, I carry one camera body and lens: the Nikon D500 with either the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 lens or the Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6. Which lens gets to go with me depends on the time of day and available light.

With winter fast approaching; yes, the first freezing temperatures are here already in Yellowstone's northeast corner; animals born this spring, have to grow up fast.

Wildflower season is coming to an end here in the mountains of Yellowstone and Grand Teton.
